We’re humble to the situation – English version

Versione in italiano qui

Using this wonderful English expression, Malin Spång defines the specific moment in which we find ourselves as OCR athletes (and – generally – all athletes are).
We are not resigned, that we are not bent, we can be a little demoralized, but certainly not down. And it well represents the spirit we feel, waiting for the reopening of the competitions.
Our fighting spirit, ready for the rescue.

This sentence came out genuinely during the interview that Mauro Leoni, president of FIOCR (Italian OCR Association), streamed (today Friday 20 March 2020) with Ms. Malin Spång, president of the EOSF (European Obstacle Sports Federation).

The interview focused on the recent cancellation of the European OCR championships, scheduled on June in Val Di Fiemme. Actually it was just an excuse for a wider exchange of information and opinions, about the weird situation which we are living.
Training at home, postponed competitions, impossibility to practice our sport, the situation in Italy and Sweden, home of Mrs. Spång.

During the interview, however, Mauro released a lot of information.
The OCR European Championships have been postponed to next year and, although the official dates have not yet been declared, it has been confirmed that the month will be the same.
And the same, it will also be the environment. Val di Fiemme has worked hard to provide support with various initiatives and partnerships.

All the athletes understand the situation, therefore they were not outraged or scandalized at the announcement. All the technical problems submitted have been examined, and a solution has been found.
The registration remains valid also for next year. If you cannot participate, the name change will be free for a defined time slot, and in exceptional cases you can also look for a refund.

It’s just asked to be patient: the qualifications for the races will continue to apply. All qualifying races, suspended in March (and April, in some cases), had a postponement. For those not yet re-defined, probably Autumn will be the time.
